Many threat actors are opportunistic, lurking and waiting for your missteps in your cybersecurity hygiene. In the blink of an eye, you could lose everything you have worked for, and it’s usually without a trace, like a popped bubble.
With this, it is your responsibility to protect your personal data — and the personal data you manage — at all costs, as your life (and the life of your business) depend on it. This way, you will not give bad actors the opportunity to misuse it.
Here are some great tips that you can employ to protect your personal data:
✔️ Always consider whom you disclose your personal information to and why. If it is unclear why your personal information is required, always inquire.
✔️ Don’t provide any personal information to unsolicited callers via phone, fax, mail, or email unless you can confirm the call’s authenticity.
✔️ Before disposing of any documents containing personal information, shred or destroy them completely.
✔️ Whenever possible, choose to transact with Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) certified organisations because they have accountable data protection practices to better manage and safeguard your personal data.
Never be complacent with your cybersecurity hygiene. Make it a habit to ensure your actions are geared towards securing your personal data.
